Cinnamon Tea!

(Paleo – Day: 32)

Yesterday, thanks to the barista’s suggestion at the Barnes and Noble coffee bar, Mom introduced us to an absolutely AMAZING tea… Hot Cinnamon Spice by Harney and Sons.  It is fantastic!  It was so great that Tooti and I each had to get a cup of it after Mom let us sample hers… and then we had to buy a box of this tea today.  Somehow it’s amazingly sweet without adding any type of sweetener, the cinnamon flavor is really strong, but not overpowering.  It’s kind of like if you took the perfect cinnamon roll and made it into a cup of tea.  Yeah, it’s that awesome.

Speaking of Cinnamon Rolls… Cinnamon Roll Day is October 4! Yay! I really want to try a recipe I found for Paleo Cinnamon “Roll” Muffins… they look delicious.

If you need some ideas on tea for two and tunes for tea… check out Tea and Sympathy’s Post… They used a song I suggested! Yay! 🙂

Paleo: Day 26

Today for breakfast, I cooked turkey bacon and eggs and an apple hash (happy Johnny Appleseed day!).  It smelled soooo good and tasted awesome. I love apples.

We had salads with crockpot roast for lunch, which was fast, tasty, and extremely easy.

I cooked Almond Chicken for dinner… delicious! It was the perfect balance of flavors; it really reminded me of when Mom used to get Almond Chicken from a Chinese restaurant.

I got my first ever manicure today with Mom and Tooti, we got the shellac manicures… fabulous and the polish is sooo shiny and is totally dry once it sets! I have a plummy raisin color on my nails, it’s really nice for Fall… and it’s purple! 😀

We tried a new kind of Coconut Chai (by Zhena’s Gypsy Tea) today too… it is incredible.  The coconut adds a nice rounded sweetness to the heaviness of the black tea, it’s a nice full flavored tea… wonderful. 🙂

Paleo: Day 25

Today for breakfast, I cooked a turkey bacon, spinach, onion, and egg scramble for breakfast and we had some applesauce for snack.

For lunch today, we had salads with the leftover roasted veggies from last night and some crockpot roast.  Mmmmm, so good!!

I cooked a curried veggie and salmon mix for dinner, which was easy and really tasty.  I’m shocked at how much I LOVE coconut milk now; it’s like my favorite ingredient.  I love it in tea, on Paleo Brownies, in curries, and it almost tastes like cheese or sour cream (especially if cold, when it thickens) on the side of egg dishes.

Day 25!!  The Amazing Race started today, seems like it will be a good season.  Couldn’t believe the girls got the passport back, Twitter to the rescue!

Tomorrow is Johnny Appleseed day… so have an apple and celebrate. 🙂

Paleo: Day 16

Today for breakfast, I cooked some more lamb with cooked apples on the side. It smelled so good!

For lunch, we had a chicken apple salad using the chicken that I had cooked in the crockpot the other day… yum!

We reheated the spaghetti sauce and green beans from yesterday for snack today, easy and extremely tasty.

I put some meat in the crockpot for dinner, so when it was time to eat, all I had to do was steam the veggies to go with it, which was really nice.

Mmmmm… I love tea.

Paleo: Day 12

Today we finished up the jerky… i.e. dehydrating it in the oven.  Tastes so amazing!  I based the marinade on this recipe, but modified it slightly and ended up with the following ingredients (and a longer marinating time):

2 cups Tamari sauce (wheat-free soy sauce)

1 cup Worcestershire sauce

3 cups cranberry-grape juice (there was a LOT of meat)

¼ cup Teriyaki sauce

1 cup light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon (or more) ground black pepper, or to taste

Basically blended it all up… then Mom cut the meat into slices and it marinated for a couple of days in the fridge before we finished it up today! The finished product is DELICIOUS.

On to today’s menu!

For breakfast I cooked up some eggs with a side of zucchini. Pretty tasty.

We had a salad with turkey bacon for lunch… sooo good! Loved the salad, it had pine nuts in it and they were delectable.

For dinner I cooked a new version of chicken curry and it was a nice change for sure.

Fun day! Rabbit trail: I received a package from Lime Crime Makeup today… FANTASTIC! I had never tried their products before, but they are quickly climbing to the top of my “favorites” list.  The lipstick [which is gluten free!] stayed on through eating and drinking tea.  Exquisite.  Can’t wait to try out the eye shadow tomorrow! Thanks Lime Crime!

Paleo Day 12: Complete with tasty jerky and fabulous cosmetics.

Paleo: Day 4

Today I woke up to the happy thought, “Eggs and berries for breakfast! Yay!!!!”  So I cooked omelets with green and red bell peppers, served with berries! Soooo good!

We were out of our favorite tea so we made a trip to the tea store.  Before heading out, we each had a bit of chicken to tide us over until lunch.  We got our tea and I ended up getting a sketchbook and some paint while we were out.  I got a compliment on my Gypsies shirt today… specifically because of the fabulous mustachio printed on it.

When we got home, lunch was super easy and all I had to do was heat up the crockpot roast from last night.  It tasted even better today!

Then it was tea time! After tea I boiled eggs (served with almonds) for snack later and then ventured outside… it had cooled off so much that I almost needed a sweater! What was the temp? 83.  After it’s been 100+ nonstop for most of the summer, 83 is amazing.

I cooked beef stir fry for dinner and was surprised at how great it tasted… Tinkerbelle must have liked it too, she kept barking at me wanting more beefy bites…

Day 4: success.

Y’all have a Happy Labor Day tomorrow!
